CompTIA & Skills Development

The goal of the CompTIA Skills Development team is to provide our members and the IT industry as a whole, with the information, tools and resources necessary to be successful in the recruitment, training, certification and retention of IT workers worldwide.

CompTIA Certification Programs
CompTIA certification programs are the recognized industry standards for foundation-level IT skills. Though best known for the CompTIA A+ certification, CompTIA offers eleven additional certifications in key technology areas. Many CompTIA certifications are electives or prerequisites toward advanced certifications, such as Microsoft's MCSA and Novell's CNE. CompTIA IT Professional Membership
Certified professionals are encouraged to join IT Pro and start building a successful career in IT. The IT Pro program offers access to job search tools, informational newsletters and monthly alerts about current happenings within the IT industry. IT Pro is also a great outlet for networking with other IT professionals and industry leaders.

CompTIA TechCareer Compass
CompTIA TechCareer Compass (TCC) is a worldwide Information & Communications Technology (ICT) repository for resources critical in attracting, training and developing properly skilled ICT workers. TCC is the only tool that maps industry developed ICT careers, skills required, tasks and knowledge required to attain these skills to ICT industry certifications. Students, ICT professionals, employers, career advisors, training providers and curriculum developers can all take advantage of this free career Web site.

NITAS
The National IT Apprenticeship System (NITAS) is an innovative new partnership between the United States Department of Labor and CompTIA that offers tools for dramatically improving the performance and productivity of every IT employee in an organization. NITAS applies an established apprenticeship model, tested and perfected over decades in technical and non-technical fields, to the unique requirements of the IT industry. CompTIA Educational Foundation
The CompTIA Educational Foundation provides hundreds of individuals with opportunities to pursue careers in IT. The Foundation receives support from individuals, industry leaders, companies and the government through contributions and grants. It funds four programs: Creating Futures, NITAS, Tech Career Compass, and the IT Merit Awards. The Foundation makes a direct impact on people’s lives, and the IT industry as a whole, allowing entry-level IT workers the ability to continually upgrade their skills, and progress along a successful career path.
