What is the CompTIA Learning Alliance?
The CompTIA Learning Alliance (CLA) recognizes CompTIA members who have met CompTIA’s quality standards for delivering certification education and training. All CLA partners complete a comprehensive application process and upon review become authorized CompTIA Learning Alliance partners. To become a CLA partner, click here.

What are the benefits to becoming a CLA partner?
Approved CLA partners receive many benefits, including Web site listings, sales leads, customizable marketing collateral, logos and a partner certificate.
  • Listing on CompTIA Web site and direct sales leads
    • Only CLA Partners can be listed on the CompTIA Web site. Training providers listed are easily searchable by name, country, state, city or postal code. This service lets CLA Partners take advantage of the potential business generated by the www.comptia.org domain.
  • CompTIA updates and networking
    • Bi-annual conference calls and special events (Web casts or conferences) provide partners information on CompTIA certification revisions or additions. The special events geared for education and training professionals encourage knowledge and idea sharing.
  • CLA and CompTIA certification logo
    • The CLA logo emphasizes CLA Partner credibility as a quality training organization meeting IT education industry and CompTIA specific standards. It can be used in advertising, on business cards, Web sites etc. CLA partners also get to use the individual CompTIA certification program logos.
  • Customizable marketing collateral
    • CLA Partners have access to free marketing and ad templates, brochures, posters, training and certification research information
  • CLA recognition and partner certification
    • All CLA partners get a unique partner certificate that can be proudly displayed in the training facility. Partners also receive access to special venues/events to maximize their networking and partnership opportunities.

What quality standards do CLA partners need to meet?
  • Instructors/Trainers
    • Need to hold an industry recognized Instructor/Trainer certification (major IT industry company, CompTIA CTT+, or teaching certificate) and be certified in the CompTIA certification offered.
  • Use CompTIA Authorized Quality Curriculum
    • CompTIA has established that any CLA delivered in preparation for CompTIA certification will use courseware/curriculum that holds the CompTIA Authorized Quality Curriculum (CAQC) logo.
  • Fair, published customer service policy
    • Partners will need to establish and publish quality control and general customer-satisfaction policies. Such policies may include instructor evaluations, options for retaking a class at no additional charge, money-back guarantees, and similar implementations.
  • Meet industry/government standards of legal compliance (for software and operations)
    • The training facilities also need to be compliant with anti-piracy laws, have structured course evaluation processes and agree to site inspections.
  • Offer certification testing services or provide information on nearby testing facilities
    • CLA Partners will need to provide pre and/or post assessment services to ensure candidates have the skills needed to enter/complete a course of study. These assessment services can be either internally created or made available through a third party.

How long is the CompTIA Learning Alliance partnership approval valid?
The CLA designation is valid for a 12-month period from the date of acceptance. CompTIA will contact partners about Membership and CLA renewal prior to the end of the 12 months.

How much does it cost to become a CLA partner?
CompTIA Associate Members pay $750 per year for each location. CompTIA offers an Enterprise CLA partnership for companies with multiple locations. For a customized Enterprise quote, contact Kelly Haithcox at 630-678-8421 or khaithcox@comptia.org

E2C members (non-profit) pay $500 per year.

Do CLA partners receive a discount on testing vouchers?
Because CLA partners are CompTIA members, discounts on test vouchers are available. Visit the CompTIA Online Store to view and buy vouchers.

Does Microsoft recognize the CLA program for its MCT Authorized Train-the-Trainer program?
There are two parts in becoming certified as a Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT). The first part requires proving basic instructional presentation skills and the second part focuses on the Microsoft technical content. Effective January 01, 2003, MCT candidates can go through the CompTIA Certified Technical Trainer (CTT+) training program at a CompTIA Learning Alliance facility to provide proof of their instructional presentation skills. Microsoft does not list authorized Train-the-Trainer facilities on its Web site anymore. To become a Microsoft approved MCT training facility, an organization must participate in the CLA and teach CompTIA CTT+.

How does the Novell Authorized Training Centers program relate to the CLA program?
Novell, Inc. formally recognizes the CLA program and its quality. Both organizations agreed to have the worldwide network of Novell Authorized Training Centers join the CompTIA Learning Alliance (CLA). This acceptance of the Novell training channel into the CLA program offers compelling new incentives and an accelerated qualification process for training providers to become part of a leading channel program.
