Who is eligible for the IT Merit Award?

Any individual that has received prior training at the CLA training center and holds at least one CompTIA certification. 

Are any individuals automatically deemed ineligible?

Instructors, contractors, employees (or their immediate family members) of the CLA training partner are not eligible to receive this IT Merit Award.  CompTIA Educational Foundation reserves the right to determine eligibility. 

Who can nominate individuals for this award?

Currently, this program s open to CLA training partners located in the US and Canada. We expect to roll out this benefit globally in the future.

Can CLA training partners nominate more than one individual?

Yes. CLA members are welcome to nominate more than one individual, but, only one individual per CLA site will be selected to receive the award each year. How do I nominate candidates?

CLA training partners may nominate individuals using the nomination form on the CLA website – www.comptia.org/cla

How long does it take individuals to receive checks?

Checks are distributed on a quarterly (every three months) schedule.  For example, if a center submits a nomination in April that nominee if selected would receive the $250.00 award in June.

Are nominees paid directly?

Checks are made payment to both the awardee and the CLA training partner and sent directly to the CLA training partner’ address. Both parties must endorse the check for it to be cashed by the award recipient.

Can the CLA training facility actively promote this benefit to its students and market the receipt of the award?

Yes. CompTIA will provide the CLA training partner with marketing and promotional assistance to get some publicity for the award recipient and the training facility. The CLA training partner must also undertake to do a few basic things like sharing a photo of the award winner, local media exposure etc. Information on this will be in the CompTIA Press packet that will be provided after the award is presented.
