CompTIA Managed Services Initiative

Managed services is currently one of the fastest growing fields in the IT industry. After extensive research, CompTIA defines managed services as the ongoing management, monitoring, and maintenance of networks, software, hardware and related IT services by an external organization. Managed services are often marked by detailed service level agreements (SLAs), which typically include provisions for performance, security, efficiency, accountability, response times and relevant upgrades.

The goal of CompTIA’s Managed Services Initiative is to create standards and best practices for managed services and managed service providers (MSP), in order to assist the industry in providing managed services and profiting in the managed services arena. Items being explored by this initiative include:
  • Educational tools to inform the industry about managed services
  • Operational and marketing tools to assist resellers in providing managed services within their businesses
  • Best Practices for businesses in managed services
